The guy making the wrappers dark for these cigars was not consistently
following the recipe. As a result, many of these cigars will shed a red
color onto your fingers or lips. The worker has since been fired. But we do
not know how many of these dark wrapped cigars are still in the pipeline.
It will take some time to unravel the mess and determine a solution. In the
meanwhile, dark wrappers may shed red.
If this bothers you, I suggest you order the Smithdale Natural instead.
They are the same cigar, but with a natural wrapper.
The wrapper is fermented using FX Smiths Sons proprietary curing process. This yields a special toasted black bread character. The smoke is smooth yet tasty, like pumpernickel. The aroma is toasty and sweet. The flavor has hints of black tea.
